Bass Camp 2016 Video Interview with Kiyoshi

Last year’s Bass Camp took place from August 28th to September 2nd of 2016 at Warwick in Markneukirchen/Germany, followed by the ReeveLand Music Festival on September 3rd. During the Bass Camp in 2016, we had the opportunity to talk extensively with the Warwick artists. All interviews were conducted by Nick Wells from Great Britain and recorded by the Warwick video team at the Warwick Headquarters in Markneukirchen.

Kiyoshi – Bass Camp 2016 Video Interview

This time our guest is Kiyoshi. Kiyoshi, born in Japan, is a bassist and singer in various bands such as The Madcap Laughs and Inside Me, and is currently attracting a lot of attention in the West as part of the live recording of Marty Friedman’s (Megadeth 1990 – 1999) solo project.

In addition, she starred in the role of Onihime in the movie Too Young To Die by director Kankuro Kudo in 2016. During that same year, Kiyoshi’s released her first self-titled solo album “Kiyoshi”. She wrote all tracks, sang and played all instruments (except the drum part.) She points out that no guitars were used for her solo work, but only a Warwick Custom Shop Masterbuilt Streamer Stage II 5-String Bass. In the interview, Kiyoshi tells how she bought her first Warwick and that Warwick basses produce the purest and clearest bass sound, in her opinion.

Kiyoshi describes her style as progressive and „heavy”. Long-time Warwick Artist, Aaron Charles Wills aka. P-Nut (311) influenced her playing the most. Kiyoshi has a unique and unusual sharp bass sound. Audio samples of her solo project and further information can be found at:
