In an exciting development for metal music fans, ESP Guitars has officially welcomed Mick Thomson, the acclaimed guitarist from iconic American band Slipknot, to their artist roster. The partnership promises the birth of a killer Signature Series guitar, further cementing Thomson’s influence in the world of metal.

ESP Guitars has shared some thrilling news for guitar enthusiasts and metal fans alike – Mick Thomson, renowned guitarist of American metal titan Slipknot, has joined the ESP artist family. The company further revealed that a new ESP/LTD Signature Series guitar, designed for and by Thomson, is currently in development.

Tony Rauser, the ESP Director of Artist Relations, expressed his excitement about this collaboration, saying, „We are thrilled to welcome Mick as part of the ESP family. Mick is one of the most respected and influential players in the world of metal guitar. The intensity of his aggressive playing style with Slipknot fits perfectly with the energy at ESP.”

Sharing the same enthusiasm, Mick Thomson responded, “Couldn’t be happier to be in the ESP family. So impressed with everything I’ve been playing live, and there’s a great energy with everyone I’ve dealt with. We are currently working on specs for some customs that I know will be killer.”

He further admitted that choosing a model has been challenging due to the plethora of possibilities for creating monster guitars, but saw it as a „great problem to have.”

Originating from Des Moines, Iowa, Mick Thomson became part of Slipknot in 1996, shortly after the band’s inception. Over the years, the band has received 10 Grammy nominations and countless other honors, selling over 30 million albums worldwide since their self-titled debut in 1999. Known in Slipknot as #7, Thomson’s innovative guitar style—his unique blend of downtuned riffs and hypnotic lead lines—has garnered acclaim across a spectrum of metal publications. His influence is palpable in many guitarists who aspire to emulate his distinctive sound. Slipknot’s discography includes seven studio albums, two live albums, a compilation album, and five live DVDs, with their latest album, „The End, So Far,” hitting the shelves in September 2022.

This collaboration with ESP Guitars marks a new chapter in Thomson’s illustrious career, promising a signature guitar that embodies the energy and intensity that he brings to the metal music scene.
