Rymon Sound and the 54th Edition of the Cho-Jazz Workshop with JBL Professional and Austrian Audio
26-27 July 2024 – The small but passionate town of Chodzież (Poland) hosted the prestigious Cho-Jazz jazz workshop for the 54th time, attracting musicians and jazz enthusiasts from all over the world. This year, technical support for the event was once again placed in the hands of the professionals from Rymon Sound, who took care of the excellent sound system, using top-of-the-range equipment from JBL Professional and microphones from Austrian Audio.
Jazz as a musical genre is extremely demanding in terms of sound and sound system. In order to meet these demands, the workshop organisers decided to work with Rymon Sound, a company known for its experience in the realisation of concerts and musical events.
Concert at the Amphitheatre – 26 July 2024
On the first day, a concert by Laura Marti & Nataliya Lebedeva Trio took place in the picturesque Chodzież Municipal Amphitheatre, attracting crowds of jazz lovers. The stage also hosted outstanding artists such as Krystyna Stanko, Dorota Miśkiewicz, Janusz Szrom, Hans-Peter Salentin, Maciej Kądziela and Paweł Dobrowolski.
The front system on stage in the amphitheatre consisted of JBL Professioanl VTX A8 – 9 units per side, plus 2 pcs. VTX A8 as a frontfill and VTX G28 subbasses, 1pc per side, and sound production was carried out using a Soundcraft Vi3000 console.On stage, there was no shortage of JBL Professional VTX M20 monitors and Austrian Audio microphones, which once again proved their reliability in such demanding conditions: OC707 as vocals for Dorota Miśkiewicz, OD303 for Krystyna Stańko, OC7 for Hans-Peter Saletin’s trumpet and OD5 for Maciej Kądziela’s saxophone, plus drum miking for Paweł Dobrowolski: snare – OD505, hi-hat – CC8, toms – OC7 and overheads – OC818.
Concert on the Avenue of the Jazz Stars – 27 July 2024
On the second day, another unforgettable concert took place on the Avenue of Jazz Stars street in Chodzież. The Young Lions Jazz Orchestra, which had flown in specially from the USA to take part in this unique event, performed on stage.
There, in turn, the frontline system that played was: 2pc. JBL Professional VTX F35/95 and subbasses 2pc.VTX G28 in a left/right set-up, and sound production was carried out using a Soundcraft Vi2000 console. On stage, there was no shortage of JBL VTX M20 monitors and Austrian Audio’s microphone set, which had already proven itself the previous day, such as the OC707, 3pc. OC7, 1pc. OD5, 2 pcs. OC818 and 1pc. CC8.
This year’s Cho-Jazz workshops, held at various venues in Chodzież, showed that the city has extraordinary potential to host events of the highest level. Thanks to the professional approach of Rymon Sound, participants and audiences were able to enjoy excellent sound that perfectly captured all the nuances and emotions of jazz music.
The 54th edition of the Cho-Jazz jazz workshop is just now passing into history, but it will long be remembered by the participants. We are looking forward to the next edition of this unique jazz festival in Chodzież, and we will meet the Rymon Sound team on the concert map of Poland later this season and we will not fail to write about it.
