Home recording studio (pt. 21) Mastering: the finishing touch
Last month’s TopStudio featured the topic of adjusting the sound of your mix discussed by Krzysztof Blas in his home recording tutorial column. We set the high and low frequency range of our recording to make it sound like a professional production.
Nevertheless, there is still some way to go if we want to reach the volume and dynamics of a commercial CD. We will settle with this problem in May! Having received our advice on how to perform proper mastering on your own, you will be able to prepare your recordings for burning them on audio CDs. This time we will discuss three things: adding more space to the mix, applying overall compression and dithering.
Move to the next step of your musical production and read the latest part of our home recording tutorial in the May edition of TopStudio being an integral part of TopGuitar magazine (TG 5/2013).
