Cellist Tina Guo Releases Metal Album With John 5 and Al DiMeola
Recognized worldwide for her exceptional talent as a classical cellist, Tina Guo announces the pre-release of her debut full-length metal album Cello Metal. Tina demonstrates her phenomenal talent as a musician and a composer by transforming her classical playing style into a head banger’s ball. Many acclaimed guitarists are featured on the album including John 5 of Rob Zombie and Al Di Meola, one of the most prominent and influential guitarists in the contemporary jazz field. The album consists of both originals and covers of iconic metal songs. Preorders will be available July 7th on iTunes and will include an early download of Tina’s cover of „Iron Man.” The physical and digital release date for Cello Metal will be August 4th.
On Cello Metal, Tina unveils five covers of metal classics, each featuring a renowned guitar player. Covers include „Iron Maiden” (Black Sabbath) featuring John 5, „Sanitarium” (Metallica) featuring Al Di Meola. „The Trooper” (Iron Maiden) featuring Nita Strauss, „Raining Blood” (Slayer) featuring Wes Borland, and „Cowboys From Hell” (Pantera) featuring John Huldt. There are also be five originals including „Child Of Genesis,” „The God Particle,” „Eternal Night,” „Forbidden City,” and „Queen Bee,” which won Best Short Film/Music Video at the Downtown Los Angeles Film Festival. To celebrate the release of Cello Metal, Bar Sinister in Los Angeles will host an album release party August 8th where Tina will perform songs from the album.
Over the years, Tina Guo has developed a successful career as an international multi-faceted cellist performer, recorder, and composer. She has appeared as the cello soloist on movie, television, and video game scores such as Sherlock Holmes, Iron Man 2, Clash of the Titans, Red Riding Hood, Abduction, Olympus has Fallen, Escape Plan, CSI: NY, Vikings, The Borgias, Sleepy Hollow, Dominion, Iron Chef, Blizzard’s Diablo III, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and Journey, which was nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Score Soundtrack. Tina was also a featured soloist in Cirque Du Soleil’s Michael Jackson „The Immortal” World Tour from 2011-2013 performing in sold out arenas around the world. The tour topped the charts for two years as the highest grossing tour in America while performing to 2,000,000 audience members worldwide. She recently performed for the League of Legends World Championship to a sold out Staples Center in Los Angeles and an audience of 33,000,000 streaming online. She has performed on the American Country Music Awards with Carrie Underwood, Dancing with the Stars with Carlos Santana, Jimmy Kimmel Live with Ellie Goulding, the GRAMMY Awards with the Foo Fighters, and many more.
After piano at the age of three and violin at five, Tina began studying cello at the age of seven. She continued her professional cello studies at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music on full scholarship and was a Governor’s Scholar for academic excellence. As a classical cello soloist, Tina has appeared as a guest artist with the San Diego Symphony, the State of Mexico National Symphony, the Thessaloniki State Symphony in Greece, the Petrobras Symphony in Brazil, and the Vancouver Island symphony in British Columbia. She is also the co-founder and CEO of MG Music Int’l, a production company in partnership with her husband, composer and director R. Armando Morabito, that specializes in hybrid epic cinematic music for television, film, video games, and trailers. They have provided music for WWE Smackdown, WWE Monday Night Raw, NHL Rivals, Chopped, Inside the PGA Tour, Road to Ferrari, the 2014 Mercedes S-Class Video, Call of Duty: Ghosts MTX 4, and more.
