Michael Landau signs with D’Addario

D’Addario, the world’s premier music accessory manufacturer, is proud to officially welcome coveted session player and innovative performer, Michael Landau.

Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, Michael Landau is a legend himself, who throughout his illustrious career has played with some of the most recognized household names in music. At a mere 19 years old, Landau began his career by joining Boz Scaggs for a world tour, and by the age of 20, did session work with musicians including Pink Floyd, Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, BB King, James Taylor, Ray Charles, and Rod Stewart. Landau has worked on an incredible 700 records and soundtracks. In 1984, he joined Joni Mitchell again for the “The Refuge of the Roads” tour, and in 1989, he released his first solo instrumental album Tales from the Bulge. His next band, Burning water, was formed in 1991 with his brother Teddy Landau with whom he released four albums of original material. It was also around this time that he began recording and touring with James Taylor. In 1994, Landau formed the band The Raging Honkies and released two albums. 2001 saw the launch of Live 2000 and a studio album The Star Spangled Banner. His most recent album The Michael Landau Group Livewas released in 2006.

Landau currently tours and performs with his own group and a new band with Robben Ford, Jimmy Haslip and Gary Novak called Renegade Creation. He can also be seen live with Hazey Jane, Kirk Fletcher, The Jazz Ministry, Stolen Fish, Michelle Branch, and James Taylor. He has produced and or mixed some selected artists and side projects including Scott Henderson, The Jazz Ministry, Kirk Fletcher, Hazey Jane, The Dusty Meadows Band, and Stolen Fish.
